PwC has launched the PwC Ireland Resilient Communities Fund in collaboration with ChangeX. The PwC fund is designed to empower individuals and teams to spearhead local community projects that promote inclusion, equitable access to opportunities, skills development, and sustainability. This landmark fund is the result of a new partnership between PwC Ireland and ChangeX, a community engagement platform designed to get funding and resources directly into the hands of people ready to lead impactful projects in their neighbourhoods. This launch underscores PwC's commitment to drive positive change in communities throughout the Republic of Ireland and is in addition to existing charity partnerships.
The PwC Ireland Resilient Communities Fund invites applicants to choose from a portfolio of 9 transformative project ideas. Individuals and teams can apply for funding to start one of these projects, at which point they will have 30 days to form a project team and develop an action plan. Once they have completed these steps, they will be eligible for start-up funding. Funding will be awarded to qualified applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. With grants of up to €5,000 available per project, the fund aims to provide meaningful support to individuals and teams looking to make a positive impact in their communities.
Among the innovative project ideas are ‘STEAM in a box’, inspiring primary students to love STEAM subjects, ‘Books for Bright Futures’, an initiative aimed at promoting literacy and ‘Community Fridge’, which seeks to tackle food waste and encourage community sharing as well as, ‘Cycle Bus’, a solution focused on sustainable transportation for children and building connections in the community. These ideas have made a tangible impact in Ireland, as well as other global communities. To date over one million people have been impacted by the good work of ChangeX.
Enda McDonagh, Managing Partner, PwC Ireland, said: "The PwC Ireland Resilient Communities Fund reflects our focus on inclusion and making a meaningful impact in supporting the communities in which we live. By joining forces with ChangeX, we are delivering on our purpose, in a deliberate way, to empower local communities to create a real and lasting impact. This initiative will support local community based changemakers across Ireland to turn their ideas into reality, shaping a more equitable, inclusive and sustainable future."
Applications to the PwC Ireland Resilient Communities Fund can be made on the ChangeX PwC Fund page, by April 5, 2024.
