PwC Ireland today is delighted to announce the launch of its Cyber Managed Services Centre located in the firm’s offices at One Albert Quay, Cork. Part of the firm’s national strategy, this significant investment builds upon PwC’s recent announcement of 150 jobs in Cork. Through applying innovative approaches and cutting-edge technologies available at the Centre, PwC will help clients design, build and operate fit for purpose cybersecurity services including third-party risk management and privacy services.

PwC’s 2024 Digital Trust survey revealed that over half (53%) of Irish respondents expect Generative AI to lead to catastrophic cyber attacks in the next 12 months. Furthermore, third party breaches (42%) emerged as the number one cybersecurity threat concerning Irish organisations. In addition, the emerging regulatory environment has never been so complex. Key regulations such as the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and the European Network and Information Security Directive (NIS2 Directive) require organisations to be far more vigilant of the risks arising from their supply chains.
PwC’s Cyber Managed Services Centre will focus on two broad areas:
Third Party Risk Management to help companies minimise the risks associated with outsourcing to third-party vendors or service providers; and
Privacy Managed Services to provide companies with outsourced solutions for a variety of privacy operations and compliance services.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Donna O'Shea, Chair of Cybersecurity in Munster Technological University, said: “In the current environment serious third party data breaches can be an existential threat. PwC’s Cyber Managed Services Centre will be vital in providing companies, nationally and internationally, with comprehensive protection against cyber threats and regulatory obligations by leveraging their vast and experienced teams.”
Enda McDonagh, Managing Partner, PwC Ireland, said: PwC’s Cyber Managed Services Centre has been established in direct response to client demand. Its strategic location in Cork leverages exceptional local talent and tech-powered solutions to deliver for our clients locally, nationally and indeed internationally.
“At a time when disruption and uncertainty are all around us, businesses are becoming increasingly reliant on and interconnected with third parties, meaning cybersecurity risk is intensifying further. PwC’s Cyber Managed Services Centre will allow businesses to benefit from our managed services, supported by industry leading technologies, to increase efficiencies, reduce costs and enhance focus on their core business activities.”
