2024 PwC Camogie Soaring Star Awards winners announced

The 2024 PwC Camogie Soaring Stars winners have been revealed, alongside the 2024 PwC Camogie Manager of the Year. Today, the winners are acknowledged for their outstanding accomplishments and unwavering dedication throughout the 2024 Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Intermediate and Premier Junior Championship season.

2024 PwC Camogie Soaring Star Awards winners announced

The PwC Camogie Manager of the Year award is a special accolade awarded to an exceptional leader who has inspired and motivated their team to achieve outstanding results in this year’s Camogie season. The award recognises a manager who has gone above and beyond in their role, and who has fostered a positive and collaborative team environment for players to learn and develop.

2024 Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Intermediate champions Cork lead the way on this year’s Soaring Star team, with a total of six players recognised for their tremendous achievements this season. Cork had a hard-fought battle with runners-up Kilkenny in Croke Park on 11th August, with an injury time winning point earning them the ultimate victory.

Kilkenny, who were runners-up in this year’s 2024 Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Intermediate championship, will have much to celebrate after four players earned a place on this year’s 2024 PwC Camogie Soaring Stars team. These players’ determination and work-rate throughout this year’s championship was admirable, and therefore are well deserving of their PwC Soaring Star award.

Laois, who were this year’s Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Premier Junior runners-up, are awarded with two players being named on the 2024 PwC Camogie Soaring Stars team.

Tipperary, after last year’s heartbreaking defeat to Clare in the 2023 Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Premier Junior final, finally earned the right to climb the steps of the Hogan Stand to collect the Kathleen Mills Cup this year. They are represented by one deserving player on this year’s 2024 PwC Camogie Soaring Stars team.

Intermediate Semi-finalists Offaly and Kerry are also both represented with one player each on the 2024 PwC Camogie Soaring Stars team.

The six deserving Cork Players awarded a 2024 PwC Camogie Soaring Star are:

  • Emma Flanagan – No. 2 Corner Back
  • Niamh O’Leary – No. 3 Full Back
  • Aoife Barrett – No. 4 Corner Back
  • Tara McCarthy – No. 9 Midfield
  • Cliona O’Callaghan – No. 10 Half Forward
  • Lauren Homan – No. 11 Centre Forward

The four Kilkenny players who have been awarded a place on the 2024 PwC Camogie Soaring Stars team are:

  • Cliona Murphy – No. 1 Goalkeeper
  • Mairead Kennedy – No. 5 Half Back
  • Hannah Scott – No. 7 Half Back
  • Danielle Morrissey – No. 8 Midfield

The 2024 All-Ireland Premier Junior runners-up Laois are awarded two positions on this year’s PwC Camogie Soaring Stars team:

  • Clodagh Tynan – No. 6 Centre Back
  • Aimee Collier – No. 14 Full Forward

This year’s Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Premier Junior champions Tipperary are represented on this year’s 2024 PwC Camogie Soaring Stars team by the following player:

  • Jenny Grace – No. 13 Corner Forward

Intermediate Semi-finalists Offaly are represented with one player on the 2024 PwC Camogie Soaring Stars team:

  • Grace Teehan – No. 12 Half Forward

Intermediate Semi-finalists Kerry are also represented with one player on the 2024 PwC Camogie Soaring Stars team:

  • ·Jackie Horgan – No. 15 Corner Forward

Cork manager, Ger Manley was also announced as the 2024 PwC Manager of the Year. Having stepped into the role this year, replacing Matthew Twomey, Ger was familiar with the Cork set-up, having been a part of Twomey’s background team who claimed the O’Duffy cup in August 2023. Ger managed the team to their second All-Ireland victory since their return to the top of the Senior grade in 2023 after a five-year hiatus. Ger has proven an exemplary leader within the team setup this year and has received endless recognition and praise from colleagues, players and supporters for his significant contributions to Cork’s Senior success in 2024. The 2024 PwC Manager of the Year is a richly deserved accolade for Ger.

These exceptional players were selected to honour their outstanding performance and dedication to our game this season. Their talent and skill displayed throughout the season was excellent and these 15 players are richly deserving of their awards which will be presented to them in Croke Park on 15th November 2024.

A special congratulations goes to our Manager of the year, Ger Manley for his remarkable achievements and leadership as Manager of the Cork Camogie team. His success in leading Cork to their second Glen Dimplex Senior All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship victory in a row is a phenomenal achievement, and we are lucky to have an outstanding leader like him in Camogie.
