Entries are now being invited to the awards programme that has become a benchmark for excellence in sustainable business practice in Ireland.
The PwC Business Post Sustainable Business Awards has been confirmed for its fourth annual edition, recognising leadership, innovation, investment and ingenuity in the areas of Environment, Social and Governance (ESG).
(L-R) Lorcan Hanlon, Chief Commercial and Revenue Officer with the Business Post; Fidelma Boyce, Assurance Partner and David McGee, ESG Leader with PwC Ireland.
Previous winners of the awards include An Post, Vestas, Musgraves, and Boots.
Daniel McConnell, Editor of the Business Post, emphasized: "No other Irish national media outlet matches the Business Post's commitment to ESG journalism. Beyond our daily coverage and in-depth analysis, we deliver a dedicated ESG newsletter and produce the standout environmental podcast Five Degrees of Change, hosted by Daniel Murray.
"The PwC Business Post Sustainable Business Awards have become a major event, attracting businesses of all sizes. This year, we expect even more entries. Our Sustainable Business Awards Showcase is rapidly becoming a must-attend event, spotlighting top-performing organizations and serving as a powerful networking hub for future contenders. We're deeply grateful to PwC for their unwavering support of our independent journalism, especially in climate and environmental reporting."
“We are also very pleased to note the growing momentum of our Sustainable Business Awards Showcase events, which highlight the best practice found at winning organisations, and provide a network and inspiration to those seeking to become our next award winners. We thank PwC for their continuing support of our independent journalism, particularly with respect to our climate and environmental coverage.”
David McGee, PwC Ireland ESG Leader, said the awards “celebrate best in class Irish businesses across a wide range of ESG categories that invest in and promote sustainable practices, innovation and leadership.
“Technology can be part of the solution to help companies achieve net zero. Many organisations see climate transition as an industry disruptor containing distinct opportunities as well as risks. For example, according to PwC’s Irish 2024 CEO Survey 87% of business leaders expect climate change to shift the way they deliver value over the next three years. And as the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) approaches it will be important that the necessary data is available and of required quality.”
“At PwC, we work with clients across all industries as they address their transformation and reporting requirements to meet their climate and sustainability goals. We have made our own world wide science based commitment to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.”
The awards, spanning 13 categories, are adjudicated upon by an independent panel of experts in environmental, social and governance issues.
The winners of the 2025 awards will be announced during a gala ceremony on March 20th 2025 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dublin 4.
