Empowering, educating and mentoring women as they develop their careers in technology.

Women in Tech

Women looking at a tablet

At PwC, we’re committed to fostering an inclusive tech world where women thrive. With only 25% of STEM jobs in Ireland held by women and a lack of female role models, we aim to inspire and support the next generation of female tech leaders through mentorship, networking and showcasing their achievements. Join us in reshaping the perception of technology careers and unlocking the untapped potential of women in STEM.

Creating a network for future leaders

At PwC, we champion the growth and development of women in technology, both internally and externally. Through our unique combination of business and technology services, women at PwC can develop as strong leaders, add value to their teams and clients, and achieve their career goals.

Our Women in Tech network spans the globe, including Ireland, the UK, the US, Canada, Germany and Belgium. Since its UK launch in 2014, PwC’s technology teams have seen the number of women increase from 15% to 31%. The PwC Ireland Women in Tech network, launched in November 2019, has grown to over 550 members, creating a culture of empowerment and commitment to change.

Our commitment to technology and female talent

We are committed to leveraging technology to build our future. To achieve this, we’re investing $3 billion in a digital upskilling programme for our global workforce. By building skills and capabilities, we aim to elevate our firm’s commercial success while positively impacting society. At PwC, we’re becoming a more creative, dynamic and digitally enabled firm. Through training and a supportive network, PwC is an excellent place for women in technology to work and thrive.

Our Women in Tech pillars

The Women in Tech initiative at PwC is built upon four key pillars that drive our goals and create a more inclusive and diverse technology workforce.

Advance

We are committed to developing a diverse leadership structure for the future. This involves strengthening the Women in Tech network within PwC, levelling the playing field for the progression of talented women in technology roles, and ensuring that PwC is an attractive place for female talent. We also focus on mentoring and empowering women in junior technology roles to progress in their careers. Continuous support and endorsement from PwC leadership and the encouragement of male allies are crucial to our success.

Develop

Creating an environment where women’s natural skills and talents can flourish is a top priority. We encourage continuous career development within the firm and promote the sharing of knowledge and experience within the Women in Tech network. By supporting and promoting unconscious bias training within PwC, we aim to foster a more inclusive and aware workplace culture.

Retain

Retaining our senior female talent is essential for creating role models who inspire and empower women in junior roles to progress. We support mentorship programmes for women in technology roles and host regular networking events, including technology-focused training sessions. These initiatives provide valuable opportunities for women to connect, learn and grow within the PwC community.

Attract

A key objective is making PwC a more attractive place for women in technology to work. We run targeted recruitment campaigns to attract experienced applicants, graduates and interns. When new joiners come on board, we ensure they are invited to join the Women in Tech network and have the opportunity to meet like-minded colleagues through our networking events. By creating a welcoming and supportive environment from the start, we aim to attract and retain the top female talent in technology.

Shaping a diverse and inclusive tech community

Our Women in Tech team promotes equality, diversity and inclusion. Through our initiatives and events with internal and external speakers, we aim to drive meaningful change within and outside our organisation.

Tech We Can

Inspiring the next generation

Our Tech We Can programme offers free learning materials designed to inspire more school children, particularly girls, to see the possibilities a career in technology can bring. Lessons, delivered by PwC volunteers to students aged 9–13, also explore how technology is integral to various areas such as sport, space and the planet. Through fun interactive challenges, we remove tech career stereotypes and help students relate technology to their hobbies and interests.

Connecting Women in Technology

Connecting for change

PwC Ireland is a proud member of Connecting Women in Technology (CWiT), a dynamic community committed to empowering and advancing women in technology careers. We align with CWiT’s mission to promote gender diversity and equality in the tech industry through networking, mentorship and advocacy initiatives. Together, we’re driving positive change and shaping a more equitable landscape for all technology professionals.

Empowering Women in Tech

The Women in Tech team partners with thought leaders in technology to design and host events for our partners, clients and staff. These events provide valuable networking opportunities, foster connections and promote knowledge-sharing among women in the industry. Our internal Tech 101 series keeps colleagues up-to-date with complex technology trends and topics through regular, short and collaborative learning sessions led by PwC subject matter experts. By offering skills development and a sense of belonging, we contribute to a stronger, more inclusive tech community.
