One of the things I love most about working at PwC is the variety in my day-to-day work as an Internal Audit, Governance, Risk & Compliance (IAGRC) Associate. Every client is unique, which means every project is a new experience. But it’s not just about the client work—I also get to enhance my colleagues’ working lives through the Cultural Pillar Committee and the RAS (Risk Assurance Services) Social Committee.
When I first joined, I thought I might have to give up my passions to fit into the corporate world. But PwC values those passions and helps you nurture them. I’ve always enjoyed event organisation, but never wanted it to be my whole career. Here, I get to have the best of both worlds.
The culture at PwC is one of trust and encouragement. Even if you have a wild idea, managers will give you the resources to bring it to life. It’s an environment that lets you think outside the box, test boundaries and innovate.
But the best thing about working at PwC is the people. I’ve worked with people from all walks of life here, and not just in my department. The Cultural Pillar provides a forum for all employees to network, meet new people and strengthen our relationships with people from different backgrounds. It also provides support for staff and their families who have recently relocated to Ireland or who plan to relocate overseas. I recently joined a sub-group supporting those moving from India and I have to say, nothing beats walking down a corridor and seeing friendly faces on every floor.
Work/life balance is super important to me too. I love my job, but I also know that there's more to life than work. I head to Waterford once a month to truly switch off and spend quality time with my parents. And I always set time for myself, treating it as a strict appointment that can’t be moved. I don’t let myself cancel on myself!
Outside work, my passions are pretty simple. I love going out for food or drinks with friends and I’m a music lover too, both playing and listening. I play the drums to get my heart racing or blow off some steam. It’s like a workout! I love going to concerts, whether it’s bands or solo artists. And I’ve recently started hitting the gym—fingers crossed I keep up the discipline!
So if you’re looking for a place where you can be yourself, pursue your passions and be surrounded by amazing people, you won’t do better than PwC.
