Meet Conor Boylan

I’m a passionate hurler and I’ve had the privilege of playing with the Limerick senior hurling team for the past five years. As a result, a large portion of my free time is dedicated to sport and one of the most valuable aspects of PwC’s culture for me is the flexibility it affords everyone in the organisation. It has allowed me to work from home on training days and get my meal prep done, which is something I really value.

It isn’t something I had to ask for, either. Managers and senior associates encourage you to use the flexible work benefits on offer, so it’s genuinely embedded in the firm’s DNA. The ‘early finish Fridays’ in July and August are a nice bonus too!

In sport, you’re always looking for that extra boost that will make you stand out, and I’ve discovered that same culture in PwC. There’s a huge emphasis on professional development and you’re constantly encouraged to go beyond your comfort zone to help you reach your full potential.

It’s all done in a very friendly and supportive way, though. PwC is the kind of place where everyone wants the best for each other—and that’s as true for associates as it is for the Partners leading the firm. From day one, I’ve found that people are more than willing to give up their time to help you out and that’s what makes it such an enjoyable place to work.

It’s also a very diverse organisation. I’ve met so many brilliant people from a whole range of cultures and backgrounds, and it makes for a really interesting work environment. PwC doesn’t want people to just blend in—they want people who will look at things differently and bring a unique perspective to the table.

And then there’s the opportunities. If you have an urge to travel, you can work from a PwC office overseas or work remotely while abroad for up to one month each year. You’re also encouraged to put yourself forward for projects and roles that appeal to you. So if a certain career path interests you, you can begin working towards that almost immediately in PwC.

At the end of the day, all of this is made possible by the people around me. I’ve had fantastic managers and seniors to show me the way. The drive to help you reach your potential is something that brings the best out in everyone.

If you’re looking for an organisation that will help you achieve your professional goals while pursuing all the other things in life that you love and enjoy, I couldn’t recommend PwC enough.

“In sport, you’re always looking for that extra boost that will make you stand out, and I’ve discovered that same culture in PwC.”
