As a Manager within PwC Ireland’s Financial Services Tax team, I specialise in the aircraft leasing sector. I work closely with clients on tax compliance and consulting projects and am part of our people team. This allows me to help organise team events and shape our department’s approach to people-related matters.
I graduated from University College Dublin (UCD) with a Bachelor of Science, specialising in chemistry. After university, I pursued a postgraduate diploma in accounting at the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) and subsequently joined PwC through its graduate programme.
I chose to apply to PwC because of its reputation as a leading accounting firm. I had heard excellent feedback regarding its graduate and junior training programmes, which are considered among the best in the professional services industry.
My journey at PwC began in 2017, leading to the completion of my accounting and tax exams. Since then, my career has allowed me to travel the world while building my career. In late 2020, I had the opportunity to undertake an eight-month client secondment, working closely with the client’s tax manager on tax compliance for a global group. This experience broadened my expertise and understanding of international tax practices.
In April 2022, I embarked on yet another exciting opportunity through the PwC network, this time to PwC Australia, where I spent two enriching years working in the real estate tax team. This secondment not only allowed me to gain invaluable experience in a different market but also enabled me to travel and immerse myself in a new culture while maintaining my role at PwC.
Upon returning to PwC Ireland in July 2024, I rejoined my original team with a wealth of new insights and experiences, ready to tackle new challenges and continue my professional growth.
The culture at PwC is highly inclusive. Everyone is friendly and always willing to lend a helping hand. The focus on teamwork rather than individual performance fosters a strong sense of unity within our department. I particularly look forward to the arrival of new graduates each year as they bring fresh ideas on how we can improve our processes, which is always encouraged regardless of one’s level.
The best thing about working at PwC is, without a doubt, the people. I have made lifelong friends here and having experienced other work environments, I can confidently say that the camaraderie within our team is unique.
If someone I know were considering joining PwC, I would tell them about the many positive aspects of working here. Despite being a large firm, there is a strong sense of belonging, and each person’s contribution is valued. The tax department offers unlimited opportunities, whether you are interested in policy changes, improving work efficiency or integrating technology into daily working life.
We also know how to have fun with numerous social events throughout the year, from Christmas parties to summer barbecues, tag rugby and table quizzes. There’s never a dull moment!
